What are the different labor methods?

New x.doc Different Types of Labor Settings

Introduction

In x.doc, you can use three labor methods to create proposals: Per Item, Overall, and Custom. Each method offers unique ways to manage your proposal, tailored to your specific needs. Here's how to use them:

Changing Labor Method

To switch between labor methods:

  • From the dashboard, click on the Settings option in the top-right profile area.

  • Navigate to the x.doc Settings.
  • Select the Labor Settings option and choose your preferred labor type.

Remember, after updating the labor type, you'll need to create a new proposal to apply the updated labor settings.

Per Item Labor Method

The Per Item method applies labor settings to each individual item in your BOM.

  • Switch to the Per Item labor type.
  • Add new labor and update existing labor in your proposal.
  • Manage labor values for products in your library using the Manage Labor option.

  • On the Rooms & Items page, update an item's labor settings by clicking the Labor Settings.

  • Select Per Item labor, adjust the Labor Headers for the proposal, and save your settings by clicking Save and Close.

Overall Labor Method

The Overall method applies labor settings to the entire proposal.

  • Switch to the Overall labor type.
  • Create a new proposal to see the updated labor.

  • On the Rooms & Items page, update your labor settings by clicking Labor Settings for a pre-existing proposal. Select Overall labor, adjust Labor Headers, and save your settings.

  • The added labor will be displayed in your pricing breakdown section.

Custom Labor Method

The Custom method allows you to create custom labor items and apply unique rates and markups/margins.

  • Switch to the Custom labor type.
  • Create a new proposal to see the updated labor.

  • On the Rooms & Items page, update your labor settings for pre-existing labor by clicking Labor Settings. Select Custom labor, add labor, update rates, apply Global Markup on Labor, and save your settings.

  • View your labor under the Labor breakdown section on your x.doc editor page and client PDF.
