# What is the purpose of the Proposals tag?

**Overview**
Proposal tags are used to categorize and differentiate a large number of proposals. They provide an additional filtering option, making it easier to locate specific proposals and helping keep the dashboard more organized.

* For example, when you navigate to the **X-DOC Dashboard**, the proposal tags are displayed at the top of the dashboard, allowing you to quickly filter and organize proposals.

* When you click on a proposal tag, the proposal list is automatically updated to display only the proposals associated with the selected tag.

**Note:** Changing the tag only filters the displayed proposals. It does **not** update or change the stage of any proposal.
