# What are Variables and how to add them to an X-DOC document?

**Introduction**

**Variables** in X-DOC are placeholders that you can use to automate specific details in your document, such as the client's name, address, email, phone number, etc. Using variables helps save time and ensures consistency across your documents.

**Adding Variables**

* Select the element where you want to add the **Variables** on any page. The **Variables** menu will appear on the right side of the editor.
