# How to manually update stages of your x.doc document? 

**Introduction**

Managing the stages of an **x.doc document** helps you track its progress and maintain control over its status.

**Updating Document Stages**

* Moving Between Stages : On the x.doc document, you can drag and drop a document from one stage to another to update its status.

* Moving to **Sent**, **Viewed**, **Accepted**, or **Declined** : When moving a document to the **Sent**, **Viewed**, **Accepted**, or **Declined stages**, a confirmation dialog will appear stating that 'You are moving your document to the stage. You cannot undo this action.' Click **Yes, I am sure** to proceed. The client will not receive an email for these manual stage changes.

* Moving to **Draft** from **Sent** or **Viewed** : You can move a document from the Sent or Viewed stage back to **Draft**. A notification appears informing you that 'This contract will be made void, and your clients will be informed about the same. Further, it will be moved back to the draft stage where you get back the editing rights.' Click **Move to Draft** to confirm.

* Cannot Move from Accepted to Draft : Documents in the **Accepted** stage cannot be moved back to Draft. If you attempt this action, you will receive a notification that "You cannot move an already accepted document to another stage. If you want to reuse this document, please make a copy"

* Moving from Declined to Draft : You can move a document from the Declined stage back to Draft. You will be notified that 'This document will be moved back to the draft, where you will get back the editing rights.' Click on the **Move to Draft** option.
