# How to change labor type to Per Item labor in x.doc?

**Overview**

In XTEN-AV, you can change the labor type to **Per Item Labor** in x.doc to calculate labor costs based on individual items.

* Open the required proposal in the **x.doc editor**.
* Navigate to the **Rooms & Items** section of your proposal.

* In the **Rooms & Items** section, click on the **Labor Settings** option.

* Select **"Per Item"** labor, adjust the **Labor Headers** for the proposal.
* Click on the **Save and Close** option to apply the updated labor type.
