# How to assign Cable ID?

* **Overview:**

The **Cable ID Settings** allow you to automatically organize and identify cables in your drawings based on their signal type. You can define a prefix and numbering format for different signal types, making cable IDs more consistent and easier to identify. Once configured, you can automatically apply the cable IDs to your drawing using the **Number All** option or update them manually when needed.

* Click on the **Profile icon** in the **top-right corner** of the application. From the menu, select **Settings**.

The combination of the prefix and cable numbering will create the **Cable ID**, which will be displayed on the drawing. Once you have made the required changes, click **Save** to apply the settings.

| Note: Whenever there is an update to the cable ID, you must first remove the existing cable IDs and then apply the Number All option again to ensure the updated cable IDs are applied correctly.
